Dictatorship of Absolutism

Just a few days ago, Joseph Ratzinger decried a "dictatorship of relativism." Now, as pope, he stands prepared to use the Catholic Church's immense political power to continue to impose a dictatorship of absolutism on all of us.

For example, Ratzinger's brand of Catholicism so fears the slippery slope of relativism that he will let millions die of AIDS rather than admit the possibility that a living, breathing, feeling person might have greater moral standing than a sperm and egg prevented from conjoining by a life-saving condom.

Keeping condoms from the sexually active is not moral, it is murder. Even if it's done in the name of religion.

The Catholic Church closes its eyes to the ever-brightening light of human knowledge at its, and our, peril.
