Acer TravelMate 312t

[I wrote this in 1998 when I first bought one of these little machines. The honeymoon was over pretty quickly; the 800 x 600 display is way too low-resolution for me, and the 80M RAM and 3G disk have gotten in the way too. It's now semi-retired, but it does fit easily on every airline seat tray I've tried! Anyway, most of the links are broken, but in case anyone might still find this stuff useful... --Jon]

Introduction

The Acer TravelMate 312t is one of a few tiny Wintel notebooks that are inbetween the really small ones like the Libretto and the larger "ultralight" notebooks. Here are some facts about it:

• 9.3" x 1.4" x 6.9"
• 2.8 lbs (with battery)
• 800 x 600 active matrix display with NeoMagic MagicGraph 128ZV+ display adapter (1M display memory)
• 32M (standard)/80M (max) RAM
• 3.2G EIDE hard drive
• Internal winmodem (doesn't take up a slot) (note that promotional materials don't admit that it's a winmodem)
• CardBus slots (2 type II or 1 type III)
• external parallel port floppy drive
• external PC Card CD-rom drive
• Touchpad
